Elphin Support to Overcome Suicide

About Elphin S.O.S.

Founded in 2005, following a cluster of suicides in the wider Elphin area, of County Roscommon, Elphin S.O.S. (Support To Overcome Suicide) provides free counselling service to adults who have been affected by suicide. We also aim to help improve the overall mental health and well-being of the wider community.

It costs approximately €15,000 every year to provide the service and we are reliant on fundraising to keep Elphin S.O.S. running as we receive no financial support from any Government department or state body.

Traditionally, we have held Church gate collections, draws etc. to raise funds to cover the cost of this vital service and we have also received donations from groups and individuals in the community who have held fundraisers on our behalf. However, since Covid restrictions came into effect in March 2020, our ability to run our traditional fundraisers stopped overnight. At the same time, there has been an increase in demand for the services we provide so we have moved our fundraisers online.

This is our first time we have sold tickets for a fundraising draw online and printed tickets for “Win a PS5” are also available in various shops in Elphin, Co. Roscommon. You can make a donation here
